FLORIDA FOLKS HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA--
They Like Greens!
All kinds of greens are rich in vitamin A -- one of the vitamins we need to keep eyes and eyelids healthy.
Turnip greens, collards, and kale supply CALCIUM and IRON as well as vitamin A --
Calcium helps build bones and teeth.
Iron helps make good, red blood.
All kinds of greens are good for you --- but turnips, collards, and kale are better than beet greens, chard, or spinach --- (Why doesn't somebody tell POPEYE these things?
EAT GREENS TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK -- or oftener if you like.
Cook them in a LITTLE boiling water until they are just tender. Don't cook them all day; don't cook them all morning; the longer they cook the LESS food value they have.
If you like greens cooked with bacon or fat meat, cook the bacon first; when it is done, then add the greens.
USE THE POT LIQUOR!
WHY NOT RAISE YOUR OWN GREENS?
Have them fresh all the year 'round!
