Ivan Munroe was Tallahassee's "Father of Aviation. He was owner of the first airplane in Tallahassee.
After he served as a Navy pilot in Jacksonville, he formed the Tallahassee Aircraft Company with Jeff and Frank Lewis. The comany offered flight training, aerial photography, and charter service.
He was a flight instructor and manager of Dale Mabry Airport. He learned to fly when "planes were made of wood, and men were made of steel." He crashed four times in his plane saying that only sissies used parachutes. He formed the Tallahassee Aircraft Company with Jeff and Frank Lewis, offering flight training, aerial photography and charter service, after serving as a Navy pilot in Jacksonville area.
