General Note
These two oysters from Willie Fred Randolph's leased acreage of Apalachicola Bay bottom are only 18 months old. The meats of the oysters are almost five inches long and the shells well over six inches. Uncultivated oysters of the same age would be about half the size. It would take oysters in the Chesapeake Bay almost twice as long to reach this size and Long Island Sound oysters well over four years.
