The Florida had an overall length of 521.5', and 88' wide. It was built at the New York Navy Yard between 1908 and 1909, and launched on May 12, 1910.
The Florida became the flagship of the First Division of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. It saw action in the North Atlantic during World War I. In April of 1931, the dreadnought was placed on the list of Navy vessels to be disposed of by salvage, in accordance with the London Treaty, and was completely scrapped by September of 1932.
