Shown during the sesquicentennial celebration of the Florida Supreme Court. As part of the court's ceremonies retired Justice Richard Ervin was awarded an honorary doctorate from Florida State University at the Old Capitol building.
At the right is Florida State University president Sandy "Talbot" D'Alemberte. Also visible in the background at the far right is Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerald Kogan.
Biographical Note
Richard W. Ervin, Jr. was born in Carrabelle on January 26, 1905. Graduated from the University of Florida College of Law. He served as Florida Attorney General 1949-1964 and then Florida Supreme Court Justice 1964-1975 (Chief Justice 1969-1971). Richard Ervin died on August 24, 2004 in Tallahassee, Florida.
