William Glenn Terrell was born in Daleville, Mississippi in 1877 as the son to Rev. William Henry Terrell and Lizzie Crawford Terrell. Glenn Terrell earned his law degree, an LL.B., in 1903 from Cumberland University and then was admitted to the Florida Bar. William Glenn Terrell Sr. married Esther Collins on December 24, 1907 and they had 4 children: Miriam, Doris, Ruth, and William Glenn Terrell Jr. From 1909 to 1913, W. Glenn Terrell Sr. represented Sumter County in the Florida House of Representatives and then served in the Florida Senate from 1915 to 1917. He served as Florida Supreme Court Justice May 15, 1923-January 12, 1964 (Chief Justice 1929-1931; 1938-1941; 1957-1959). William Glenn Terrell Sr. died on January 12, 1964.
