Born in Arlington, Tennessee on December 8, 1892. He passed the Tennessee bar exam in 1913 and the Florida Bar in 1914. Served as an artillery officer during WWI. After the war, Mr. Fowler's mother, Mrs. Maud Fowler, became one of the founders of Temple Terrace, Florida. Fowler Avenue in Tampa was named after Mrs. Fowler. In 1924, Cody Fowler joined the Tampa law firm of Macfarlane, Pettingill, Macfarlane & Fowler. He became President of the Tampa and Hillsborough County Bar Association in 1933. Mr. Fowler served as President of the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 1941-1947, and the ABA Board of Governors 1946-1949. He became President of the American Bar Association in 1950 and chaired the Tampa Bi-Racial Committee in the late 1950's and 1960's. Cody Fowler served as President of the American College of Trial Lawyers 1952-53 then again from 1954-55 and also was a member of the Hoover Commission Legal Task Force 1954-55. He became the Inter-American Bar President in 1958. Cody Fowler died in 1978.
