General Note
Richard Parks operated a portrait studio in Tallahassee from 1962 to 1974. First called Richard Parks-Evon Streetman Photography, the studio was later renamed Richard Parks Photography after Streetman moved to Gainesville about 1965.
Biographical Note
Born September 1, 1886. Granddaughter of a Prussian Jew who came to the US during the California gold rush of 1849. He was the father of Rachel, the first Jew born in Florida; Robert, who put up the first street lights in Tallahassee; and Julius, who married Henrietta Williams, became a prosperous feed and grain dealer in Tallahassee, and fathered Ruby and Sidney Diamond. Their home was on the Northeast corner of Monroe Street and Park Avenue. Ruby Pearl Diamond graduated from Florida State College for Women 1905 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry. She lived in Tallahassee hotels from the 1920's till her death, including nearly 50 years in the Floridan, and 15 years in the Hilton. She was a benefactor for Florida State University, Temple Israel, and the community in general. Ruby Pearl Diamond died at the age of 95 on March 8, 1982.
