General Note
Senator Holland was born in Bartow, Florida on July 10, 1892. He graduated from Emory College in 1912 and then from the University of Florida College of Law in 1916. During the First World War he served in Army Air Corps in France 1918. He was a member of the Florida State Senate 1932-1940. Served as Governor of Florida from 1941 until 1945. He served as a member of the U.S. Senate from September 25, 1946 until January 2, 1971. He died on November 6, 1971.
