The 61-year-old jurist made his announcement (February 13) from his hospital bed where he is confined with a kidney infection. The announcement came in the form of a letter dictated to a newsman. Justice Hobson described how he had been "plagued by recurring illnesses for several months." He also wrote "I've recently received an offer to become and executive in a large corporation."
