Accompanying note: "Rep. Maxine Baker, of Dade County, holds a telegram and sheaf of letters protesting a bill she introduced in the House allowing a policeman or others to take a person behaving in such a violent way that he is likely to harm himself or someone else to be admitted without his consent for a 3 day medical observation. Then, if doctors feel the person should be committed to an institution, next-of-kin are notified to petition the county judge. Mrs. Baker said her bill, called 'emergency hospitalization act,' indicate the irate writers have not actually read the bill."
