Accompanying note: "The life and wherewith for the Johns Legislative Investigating Committee for the next two years was given the okay by a vote of 11-5 yesterday from the State Government Committee. The bill, which carries a $155,000 state appropriation, still must clear the House Appropriations Committee before going to the House floor. From left are: Mrs. Stockton Smith a Tampa mother who said she and other women were 'called witch hunters' after meeting with school officials; Mark Hawes, St. Petersburg, attorney for the Johns Committee; Rep. William G. O'Neill, of Marion County, who made a strong plea to continue the investigating committee; and Sen. Charley Johns, who heads the committee which has been probing various activities in the universities. Sen. Johns is from Starke."
