John Crews, above, of Baker county, voices strong disapproval when forces in the House sought to lower the $2 per $1,000 tax on stocks and bonds to $1 but when this was amended to the $1.50 level Crews joined in passing the bill in a 78-14 final count. Crews predicted the full cut would cost the state $7 to $8 million a year."
