General Note
The giant cooling water system, shown under construction, calls for 168 miles of canals. With eight canals now completed, 30 remain to be excavated before project completion. Four more will lie to the right of the original Turkey Point/Card Sound Canal; and 25 to the left. Each channel is 200 feet wide, averaging 3 & 1/2 feet deep. Total excavation will reach 25 million cubic yards of earth.
