General Note
Accompanying notes [from 1953]: The Crist Steam Plant is located on Governor's Bayou, about 15 miles north of Pensacola, Florida. This plant began operation in 1945, with a single 22,500 kilowatt turbo-generator. The addition of a third unit of 30,000 kilowatts in 1952 gave the plant a total installed capacity of 75,000 kilowatts. It is now capable of producing over 700,000,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year -- enough to supply the needs of approximately 250,000 average Florida homes. The plant burns natural gas and oil as fuel, but is designed for conversion to coal, if necessary.
