Description

This short, color and sound film, features the inaugural flight of Boeing 727 Fan-Jet service in the United States on February 1, 1964 by Eastern Airlines (Flight 638). In addition to passengers and reporters, the flight included baskets of citrus from Miami Mayor Robert King High for delivery to President Lyndon Johnson at the White House and Philadelphia Mayor James H.G. Tate. The flight traveled from Miami International Airport to Dulles International Airport to Philadelphia International Airport. The film was produced by the Florida Development Commission and was filmed and directed by Peter J. Barton.
