Physical Description
General Note
The building has been a landmark since 1926, first as the San Marcos Hotel (built by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) as part of the initial development of the City of Venice), then the winter quarters for the Kentucky Military Institute (KMI), and later the Venice Centre Mall. It was designed by Tampa architect Franklin O. Adams in the Mediterranean Revival style. The building is a contributing property to the John Nolen Plan of the City of Venice (also known as Original City of Venice Plan) that was later added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 23, 2009.
