General Note
Enlisted for the Civil War on April 24, 1862 at Madison. He became a private of the 5th Florida Infantry Regiment Company D. Promoted to Sergeant on November 16, 1862, to 1st Sergeant on November 29, 1862 and elected 2nd Lt. of the Company on January 17, 1863. He was captured on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg and imprisoned at Fort McHenry, Maryland; Johnson's Island, Ohio; Point Lookout, Maryland and Fort Delaware, Delaware where he was released June 12, 1865 after taking the oath of allegiance to the United States.
