General Note
Slides identified: 1. Entrance door set within a slightly projecting stucco surround. This ornate surround features a variety of decorative elements, including intricate moldings and spiral, engaged colonettes. In the space immediately above the door is a bas-relief depiction of an open book surrounded by floral forms, 2. Looking east at main entrance, 3. The classrooms have wood floors, plaster walls and ceilings, molded baseboards, and wall blackboard framing, although the blackboards themselves are no longer extant. The doors leading into the classrooms have transoms, which ventilated the classrooms from the open-air corridor, 4. The City of Pahokee Community Recreation Complex (Old Gymnasium), 5. Science and Economics building, 6. non-contributing building, 7. The second story windows of the western end block have decorative lintel drip molds. Also known as Pahokee Junior Senior High School, it was designed by architect William Manly King, built in 1928 and later added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on November 15, 1996.
