Description

Map showing the locations of both humans and rodents found to be infected with the bubonic plague during a 1920-21 outbreak. The Florida State Board of Health and the U.S. Public Health Service collaborated on a massive effort to contain the spread of the outbreak and to eliminate its source, rats and mice carrying infected fleas. At least ten people ultimately died as a result of the outbreak, and the combined public health task force captured and examined over 35,000 rodents.
