Accompanying note: "U. S. S. Moale (DD-693) is the second ship of the Sumner Class of 2200 ton destroyers with an overall length of 376.5 feet, an extreme beam of 41 feet, and a full load displacement of 3000 tons. Commissioned in 1944, MOALE won her first battle stars in the Pacific that year. Since then this ship has served with distinction in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Caribbean. In 1967 MOALE was recognized as the outstanding ASW ship in the fleet by winning the Anti-Submarine Warfare Trophy for the Atlantic Fleet."
