General Note
In 1960 President Lyndon B. Johnson decommissioned the naval base under his first executive order. The city of Green Cove Springs annexed the abandoned naval base, sold it to Reynolds Metal Company for redevelopment and Reynolds Industrial Park was established in 1965.
