Dear Mr. Mellon
I am writing to request that you continue to use the name of the COUNTY on the new Florida automobile license plates.
The main objective is in being able to identify the area from which the car and occupant are from.
In the case of hit and run accidents the witness probably would be able to [pinpoint] the locale of the car.
I also firmly believe the County name would be most helpful to law enforcement officers.
I personally like the design on the clipping I am enclosing. With blue-green water, a golden sunset, surrounded by yellow rays on either a light or white background, with a map of our beautiful state of Florida separating the letters and the numerals and name of the COUNTY at the bottom.
Thank you for letting me be hard.
Mrs. John Farence

This series contains license plate drawings from 1985 maintained by the Division of Motor Vehicles. The drawings and related correspondence are in response to an open contest for citizens to submit their ideas for a new motor vehicle tag design. Over 3,500 entries were submitted to the Division. The Cabinet eventually rejected all of the submissions and settled on just reversing the colors already in use.
