LAST THURSDAY YOU ASSURED A COMMITTEE HEADED BY MRS WILLIAM CORNELL JACKSONVILLE CHAIRMAN OF FLORIDA COUNCIL FOR PREVENTION OF LYNCHING THAT WHILE YOU WERE GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA THERE WOULD BE NO LYNCHINGS IF YOU HAD TWO HOURS TO GET TROOPS TO THE SCENE OF THE DISTURBANCE AND THAT THE LAW GIVES YOU SUFFICIENT POWER TO APPREHEND AND PUNISH LYNCHERS WHICH YOU WOULD USE TO THE UTMOST IF A LYNCHING SHOULD OCCUR IN FLORIDA DURING YOUR ADMINISTRATION STOP YOU BY YOUR OWN WORDS HAVE THE POWER BY LAW TO SHOW THE COUNTRY WHAT ONE DETERMINED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF A STATE CAN DO TO UPHOLD THE DIGNITYOF THE LAW UNDER ALL CONDITIONS STOP AT THREE OCLOCK THIS MORNING THERE WAS ALYNCHING NEAR TAMPA FLORIDA=
