General Note
Accompanying note: "For most of the elderly, social security and old age pensions cried freedom from hard work that began in early childhood. Long, hours in the fields taught them two things: how to pace themselves to last out the day and how to relax when the day was done. There is a sense of well-earned rest. Chores, grandchildren, visiting, church, radio and T.V., shopping, all give unity and purpose enough to living. Arthritis, blood pressure, prostate trouble and the sinfullness of youth are the chief complaints. Rocking chairs are one of the greatest pleasures."
