INCORPORATED TOWNS OF LEVY COUNTY
Bronson the county site of Levy County, was incorporated by a Special Act of the Legislature in 1908 with a Mayor, Councilmanic form of government. The charter cannot be located. Information given by City Clerk; also recorded in Book 1, Record of Incorporations, pp. 119-123. No change.
Chiefland, was incorporated under a Special Act of the Legislature in 1927 with a Councilmanic form of government which has remained unchanged. Information given by City Clerk.
Cedar Key was incorporated under General Laws of Florida, (Chapter 3748, Acts of 1887). "All cities and towns which now are and for ten years last past have been exercising municipal government are hereby declared legally incorporated." In 1880 a Special Act of the Legislature show Cedar Key incorporated under the General Laws and known as the Town of Cedar Key with a Councilmanic form of government. A Special Act of the Legislature of 1913 attempted to abolish the Town of Cedar Key and establish the City of Cedar Key; also in 1923 a Special Act of the Legislature attempted to abolish the Town of Cedar Key and establish the City of Cedar Key under Chapter 9698. On December 20, 1933, the State of Florida by its Attorney General filed in the Circuit Court of Levy County, Florida, its information in quo warranto, alleging that the officials of said City were exercising and performing the franchise, functions and powers of a municipal corporation without the authority of law. On January 9, 1934, a judgment of ouster was entered and writ served upon the respondent City and its officials; a receiver was appointed to take charge of all properties of said City, including its municipal improvements, public utilities and records. In 1937 a Special Act of the Legislature was passed abolishing all previous incorporations and provided that a municipality be known and designated as the City of Cedar Key. Montbrook was incorporated under the General Laws of Florida in 1900 with a Councilmanic form of Government, but was not active; no records of the town can be located. Just dormant. Information secured from Miss Emelia Sneller, present Post Master, who has in some way been connected with the Post Office since year 1900. Also in Book 1, Record of Incorporations, pp. 37-39.
Morriston, was incorporated as the Town of Morriston under General Laws of Florida in 1903, with Councilmanic form of government, but was not active; no records of town can be located. Just dormant. Information secured from Post Master A. N. Williams who has resided

Williston was incorporated by a Special Act of the Legislature of July 8, 1897, as the town of Williston, Councilmanic form of government. In 1929 a Special Act of the Legislature abolished the town of Williston and established the City of Williston with Mayor, Councilmanic government. Information secured of City Clerk and Miscellaneous Book "A", page 265. Yankeetown was incorporated by a Special Act of the Legislature under chapter 111807 as the town of Yankeetown at its extraordinary session 1925. Was amended by a Special Act of Legislature under Chapter 16500 at Regular and Extraordinary sessions of 1931. Councilmanic form of government. Information secured from Acts of Legislature 1925, 1931.
