"The donor, Michael Drake, received this photo from George I. 'Pete' Esthus."
Accompanying note: "Franklin Field was completed in May 1918 as an auxiliary landing station for the U.S. Army Air Service. It was located north of Fruitville Road and east of Tuttle Avenue. The airstrip remained in use until 1924, when it was converted into a street as part of the new Avion subdivision."
