Accompanying note: "'THE MAIL MUST GO' Scene shows a modern-day counterpart of his predecessors of 1887, on his lonely trek passing famed Hillsboro Light. History relates, the Barefoot Mailman's journey required him to swim and row his boat across inlets and prepare his own meals of fish and coconuts. One such carrier lost his life at the Hillsboro Inlet and a memorial in his memory has been erected on that beach."
