General Note
The Dade Street Recreation Center was later renamed Lawrence Gregory Community Center in 2002 in honor of Mr. James Lawrence, retired Recreation Superintendent, and Beulah Gregory, the first Supervisor of the facility.
Accompanying note: "A group of girls got an advanced romp last week on the gymnasium floor at the new Dade Street Recreation Center, which will be dedicated today and open for business tomorrow. The gym provides room for basketball and volleyball and many other uses."
"The new Dade Street [Recreation] Center, first for Negroes in this area and built jointly by the City of Tallahassee and Leon County, will be dedicated today and open for business tomorrow."
