General Note

  • He came to Florida in 1859 to manage Casa Bianca plantation outside of Monticello. Later served as delegate from Florida at the Montgomery, Alabama convention to form the Confederate States of America. He also served in the Jefferson County volunteers, became the Colonel of the 1st Florida Infantry and in March 1864 he became Commander of Florida.
