General Note
The school opened in September of 1902 and was located on Lake Wire. About 300 children of all grades were enrolled in 1902. The yellow brick section, fronting on Florida Avenue was added in 1926 after a portion of the building was destroyed by fire. When a new Lakeland High School was built in 1950 this became the Junior High. It was phased out in 1976.
