General Note
Built circa 1903/04, it was located on the south side of Park between Monroe and Calhoun. This was a private subscription library organized as the University Library in 1883 by Governor David S. Walker. It was first housed in rooms upstairs on the southeast corner of Park and Monroe. In 1976, the Walker Trust fund ran out of money and beginning in 1977 the building has served as the Springtime Tallahassee headquarters. Now (1989) it is a visitor information center, local history reading room and still the headquarters for Springtime Tallahassee. The David S. Walker Library was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
