The marble and coquina stone tower contains 60 bronze bells weighing from 17 pounds to more than 11 tons. It later became a National Historic Landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
Accompanying note: "Showing the north side of the Singing Tower in the Mountain Lake Sanctuary near Lake Wales, Fla., and a part of the moat around it. The rectangular grass plot in front of the steps leading to the great door marks the grave of Edward William Bok, the builder of the tower and sanctuary, whose last resting place is in a vault under the marker, reached from inside the tower."
