General Note
Tung trees have been cultivated commercially in Florida since 1923. The nut of the tung tree produces a water-proof oil and the quick-drying properties of tung oil make it extremely valuable in the manufacture of some paints, lacquers, varnishes, water-proofing materials and a host of other products.
Accompanying note: "Major Richard E. Bergren and Mrs. Bergren at their Gulf Breeze, Fla, home sip tea freshly brewed from the leaf of the tung tree. Major Bergren believes that the tung element works against harmful toxic accumulations within the body. His experiments with tung medicine apparently have no official recognition."
