The Tallahassee Democrat newspaper was founded in 1905 and located at 115 S. Adams St. from 1909-1953. In 1953, it moved to 100 E. Call St., and in 1968 to its present (2012) location at 277 N. Magnolia Drive.
Accompanying note: "Knight Newspapers president James Knight, center, presents Tallahassee Democrat publisher Jack Tapers, right, with a check upon the 1965 purchase of the newspaper by Knight Newspapers. Knight Newspapers executive Lee Hills, left, looks on. The paper had been privately owned since its founding in 1905 until the Knight purchase."
