Accompanying note: "Born in Philadelphia, Oct. 8th 1812. Graduated from the US Military Academy. Did service on the northern frontier of GA and in the Florida War."
"After resignation from the US Army he moved to Florida where he filled important positions in the State Militia. Rose from Capt. to Lt. Col. of the cavalry before being taken prisoner, as a member of the Florida Brigade, during the Civil War. Died in Quincy, Mar. 4, 1869."
