  • The first American alcalde of Pensacola, appointed in 1821 by territorial governor Andrew Jackson. He was judge of the West Florida district from 1822-1832. He was the first U.S. Forester and Superintendent of the first American forest experimental station at a Live Oak plantation on the Santa Rosa peninsular in December 1828.
