Accompanying note: "Picture was taken on capital steps & must be one of the House of Representatives, at least the daughter of Daniel M. McAlpin says so. McAlpin, who is second from the right, second row down from top, was a Representative from Suwannee County in 1875. At left with cane is Sen. John Wallace of Leon Co. who wrote Carpetbag Rule in Florida. Center front, hat in hand, said to be John [Elias (or Elijah)] Proctor. F.A. Hendry back row, 1st on left. Robt. Meacham 3rd row from back 3rd from right."
