Florida Memory is administered by the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services, Bureau of Archives and Records Management. The digitized records on Florida Memory come from the collections of the State Archives of Florida and the special collections of the State Library of Florida.

Dyen, a folklorist with the Florida Bureau of Folklife, explains the profession using the Panhandle area as her example. Dyen discusses ethnic groups (Creeks, African Americans, and Anglo Americans), occupational groups (netmaking, fishing), and dialects. She also explains the project and the Florida Folk Festival.
