  • Seventeen color slides. The shortwood operation involves the conversion of trees into desired length products at the stump, either by hand with chain saws or some other mechanized processor, turning the tree into usable logs. The individual pieces are then transported to a truck with a fellerbuncher or skidder. These slides document shortwood operations in Gadsden County. Logger David Brown is in a few photos, wearing red shirt.
