This film has footage of the 1978 Florida Folk Arts Conference held at the Stephen Foster Memorial in White Springs, Florida. Folklorist Alan Jabbour, director of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, defines folk art and folklife for an off-camera interviewer. Folklorists Peggy Bulger and Ralph Rinzler, dulcimer player Jean Ritchie, shakuhachi player and ethnomusicologist Dale Olsen, and Florida Folk Festival director Thelma Boltin are also shown.
