James Cottrell moved to Atsena Otie, Levy County from Lowndes County, Alabama in 1854. He served as a Florida Senator representing District 12 (Levy County) from 1865 until his death in 1885. His wife was a sister of Hon. James McQueen.
James W. McQueen was a state senator representing District 11 (Lafayette county).
