General Note
The picture reveals the "green" nature of the Confederate volunteers without uniforms and experience. They awkwardly handle the large guns which would be used time and again against Federal blockading measures. Prior to the war, the south had not produced ammunition or large weaponry for over 50 years. They were forced to improvise to prepare for war.
Probably located just south of Fort McRee.
