Tenth bishop of the African Methodist church. Born in Hanover, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1823. Converted in 1838, licensed to preach 1843 and joined the Itineracy in 1846. Ordained Deacon in 1847 and ordained Elder 1849. Elected Bishop on May 21, 1868 in Washington, D.C.
