General Note
Born in Montgomery Co., Ga.; moved with his parents to Liberty Co. in 1858. Served with the 5th Fla. Regiment of General Lee's Army of Virginia and was captured at Sailor's Creek ; confined at Point Lookout prison until paroled. Elected sheriff, county judge, tax assessor, Fla. House of Representatives 1899 and 1913; Senate 1909, 1911, 1912. He devoted much effort to secure the construction of the A & N railroad and was with the engineering corps that located it.
