Born on November 6, 1852 in Thomas County, Georgia. Married to Jane (Jennie) Harn on December 16, 1872. He was assassinated at his home "by a negro" on December 26, 1899. His name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (East Wall, Panel 31, Line 20).
