General Note
He was born in Bartow, Florida on July 4, 1891. Married Theresa Scheitinger in Bridgeport, Connecticut around 1916. Moved to Miami in 1919 and joined the Miami Police Department on August 23, 1921. He was shot and killed by two armed robbers (Walter Valiton and John Naugle) on March 15, 1925. His funeral was attended by a delegation from the Ku Klux Klan. The name of Laurie Lafayette Wever is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (East Wall, Panel 18, Line 14).
