General Note
Born on October 16, 1948, in Jonkoping, Sweden. The family moved to Chicago in 1956 and then to Florida in 1967. Married Linda Manfull in 1970. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1972 and began working for the Florida Probation and Parole Commission. Bjorn Thomas Svenson became the first state parole officer killed in the line of duty in the history of Florida when he was shot multiple times by Harry Franklin Phillips on August 31, 1982. The name of Bjorn Thomas Svenson is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial (East Wall, Panel 54, Line 5) in Washington, D.C.
