General Note
Born in Richland, Georgia on November 26, 1892. Joined the Miami Police Department in 1923 and was promoted to detective in 1925. Married to Marcella Elsie Jester. Shot and killed in the line of duty on November 18, 1933 in a shootout with bank robbers (Leo Zalutsky and Anthony Hanson). His name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (on Panel 41, East Wall, Line 12).
