Note standing in the middle wearing a tie is California Congressman Paul Norton "Pete" McCloskey Jr. He sought the Republican Presidential nomination on a pro-peace/anti-Vietnam War platform in 1972 but was defeated by incumbent President Richard Nixon.
Biographical Note
Born on 7/4/1946 Ron Kovic was paralyzed in 1968 while serving his country in the Vietnam War. He is best known as the author of the memoir "Born on the Fourth of July", which was made into an Academy Award-winning movie directed by Oliver Stone, with actor Tom Cruise playing Kovic.
Buckley's photography focused primarily on civil rights demonstrations, anti-war rallies, anti-nuclear demonstrations, and women's rights demonstrations.
